Bamboo can grow up to 2 feet per day. After harvesting, bamboo does not require replanting. Bamboo has an extensive root system that continually sends up new shoots, naturally replenishing itself, making it one of the most renewable resources known. In addition to being harder than maple wood, it is also 1/3 lighter in weight than oak, yet in some instances as strong as steel. Bamboo holds the promise of a sustainable, cost effective, and ecologically responsible alternative to the widespread clear cutting of our old growth forests.

Totally Bamboo uses only premium grade organically grown bamboo and then, only the lower portion of each pole because it is much denser. Their factory adheres to a very stringent protocol, for curing and processing, resulting in the highest quality product attainable. It is ISO 9000 compliant which is a rating system covering non-polluting environmental issues and employee welfare , safety and minimum age. Wood or bamboo cutting board maintenance: Apply food-grade mineral oil every few weeks when the board is new and a few times a year thereafter. The oil soaks into the fibers, creating a barrier to excess moisture. (Don't use olive or vegetable oil, which can become rancid.) Avoid leaving wood or bamboo boards resting in water, or they may eventually split.
