Large Danish Dough WhiskOnce you’ve used this dough whisk, you’ll count it as one of your essential baking tools. It’s perfect for mixing heavy dough prior to kneading. Way better than a spoon and much easier to clean.

Sturdy and well made with a beechwood handle and stiff stainless steel wire head. Flow-through wire whisk design blends ingredients thoroughly and gently. Overall length: 15 1/4″

Tip: Rub a little food grade mineral oil (available at any pharmacy or here) into the handle periodically to prolong its lifespan.

Note: The wire head of this whisk is too large to fit inside the sourdough starter jars that we carry. Our small Danish dough whisk will fit.

Made in Poland

Danish Dough Whisk — Large

The one I got was very strong and stable, I loved that it made it significantly faster and easier to mix my dough with this whisk. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to do sourdough!

  2. rechelebrooke

WOW! What a huge difference a dough whisk makes! This makes mixing sourdough so much easier!

  3. KatTheBaker

I used mine semi-regularly for 10 years, always hand washing and never leaving it in the water, but after that time it developed a split in the wood. I filled it with resin but no go – the split keeps widening. So it’s time for a replacement. I’m not hugely disappointed – 10 years is fine! – but given that it wasn’t used weekly or anything, I would have hoped for it to be a little more robust. These whisks definitely help with heavy dough and/or large amounts in a bowl – MUCH easier on the hands than a spoon – so I recommend their use, for sure.

  4. jjim7394 (verified owner)

Best tool ever for mixing dough!

  5. Ladydzich (verified owner)

A really useful tool! This makes mixing dough (without a mixer) a WHOLE lot easier!

  6. Kirsten

Love it. I’m new to bread making and this tool is perfect for assisting with mixing; makes it easy.

  7. Leslie Chang (verified owner)

Such a handy little tool at a great price that has added so much value to my kitchen and bread-making process. It’s so much easier to use this dough whisk than to use a spatula or wooden spoon, and clean up is a breeze. I didn’t know about this tool until I saw it here, so major thanks to the Breadtopia team!

  8. Megan (verified owner)

I do not know how I never heard about this whisk. I’ve been baking for most of my life. I want to shake my baking friends and ask “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME!!??” This is the best whisk I’ve ever used for bread, cornbread, certain cakes, pancakes, etc. It quickly mixes the ingredients without over-mixing, and is sturdy enough for heavy batters. I only bought the large whisk. I’m heading right back for the small. You need this whisk. Life is incomplete without it. 😉

I purchased this whisk after being sadly disappointed with the Black Walnut Dough Whisk https://breadtopia.com/store/danish-dough-whisk-black-walnut (which I purchased primarily because it is made in the USA). Sadly, that whisk head design is VERY inferior to this Large Danish Dough Whisk and this one is almost half the price.

It works beautifully, especially with sticky einkorn bread dough and cleaned up easily! I lubricated the handle with refined coconut oil, and my husband is going to fill the small hole where the wires fit into the wood with clear gorilla glue so no dough will get in there. By the way, the Large Danish Dough Whisk is made in Poland, not China like some of the cheap knock-offs sold online. Definitely a great buy here.

Received mine yesterday. Amazing addition to my kitchen. The ingredients were mixed so fast into a dough ball. Like in half a minute. (Can probably be done even faster because I used this only once, for hot dog bread dough.) After that I used my kneading gloves to finish.
Got the large and small size.

  11. Bill Rice

For a tool that looks like it would do little blending of the ingredients it does a great job. Glad I bought mine!

  12. Mitch (verified owner)

Meh. The metal whisk comes loose from the wooden handle. I switched back to my wooden spoon.

  13. Howard Hilde (verified owner)

Do I need it, now. Do I love having one, yes. I am unsure if I would buy it again but won’t give it up either. Seriously, you can just use a spoon and your hands.

  14. John (verified owner)

Do not hesitate to buy. First batch of dough for burger buns was unbelievable. I was considering a mixer, no more. This tool makes it work like you know what your doing. I have been making my own bread for about 3 months, this was the last tool I needed.

  15. Chris

So simple. So amazing. This thing is an aboslute joy to work with. It saves a lot of wear and tear on the shoulder while mixing dough. The coil design allows enough of the dough to pass through, decreasing drag. The particular model sold at Breadtopia is rock-solid. I absolutely love this thing. I had purchased one elsewhere (before I knew about Breadtopia), and it promptly fell apart. A major disappointment. After my disappointment with its predecessor, I almost didn’t buy this one — what a tragedy that would have been! Buy this thing. You won’t regret it.

  16. Aliyah Levestam

Been baking bread mixed by hand for nearly 50 years – why didn’t I learn of these magnificent dough whisks earlier. I bought one of each size – the smaller is perfect for sourdough starter – and I now use them for other baking jobs too. These are beautifully made and the wooden handle is smooth and comfortable. Cannot recommend highly enough!

  17. Elaine

Love it and recommend it! Perfect for sourdough feeds.

  18. Maeve Robertson

I love this tool. It’s great for my weekly feeding of the sourdough starter. Cleans up easily. Simple and straightforward. Very sturdy.

I am now totally addicted! The Danish Dough Whisk is the best baking tool since sliced bread! The day after I got it I put together croissants’ white bread, giant blueberry muffins and Kaiser rolls. I can’t believe how quickly the doughs and batters pull together without over mixing. My kitchen aid mixer will be collecting dust now. My muffins pulled together like magic and turned out twice as good as those store bought ones. Seems to allow me to use less flour too that I think makes my baked goods lighter and last longer in freshness. Today is more bread and giant cinnamon rolls. And the cost is half of eBay’s. Thanks!

  20. Herb Klug

Excellent!!! Got it yesterday, made dough with it today! This is an excellent tool for mixing dough. It is so much superior to trying to use a spoon. It mixes the liquid and dry ingredients with ease, and when everything congeals into dough, the whisk moves it and works it and shapes it with almost no sticking. And, like Eric said, clean-up with cold water is a snap. I’m just thrilled with it.

  21. Anonymous

I love it! For the first year of owning this I thought it was only for mixing bread. It does a great job of that. Then my mom told me it can be used for mixing the other end of the spectrum–cakes and muffins. After the first batch of cupcakes mixed with it, it was like my cake-making skills went up a few levels. They were the light, fluffy, moist little things of perfection I always dreamed of making. I love it. I’d highly recommend it.

  22. Patti Johnson

This is a wonderful dough whisk. So glad I got this bigger one, too! (Got the smaller one a few months ago from Amazon.com…)

Makes hand mixing my bread dough SO MUCH EASIER! Lurve it!

  23. Richard Decker

The right tool for the job! I got my whisk a few weeks ago (decided on the large size, glad I did) . I use pre-ferments on my whole grain flour that I mill and have always used a wooden spoon for the task…….. not anymore! Better leverage, better overall operation and easier cleaning. Any job goes much better when you use the right tool and for hand dough mixing, this is the right tool and a great value!

  24. Sandra White

Perfect tool! My bread dough pulled together beautifully with this whisk- much more effective and efficient than the long-handled wooden spoon I’ve been using for a few years. I bake professionally, and this tool cuts time and effort down considerably. It’s also fun to use- feels good in the hand, it’s sturdy, and the dough moves through it in an interesting way.
Shipping was completely efficient, and I really appreciated a hand-written note on my packing list, made me feel welcome. Thank you!

  25. Diana

Great deal, great whisk! Makes things so much easier. Quick shipping and great service also, thank you!

  26. Danielle Bussone

Wonderful Dough Whisk – This is the one thing I never knew I couldn’t live without. I bought the larger Danish Dough Whisk and then had to have the smaller one as well. It is so versatile. It is great also for mixing any heavy batter. I use it for my double dark chocolate biscotti recipe and any recipe calling for something more open and heavier than a typical whisk. Nothing else works better.

  27. Lisa

I love my Danish dough whisk. It is so much less expensive than a kitchen aide mixer.

  28. Justin

Great Product! Absolutely a great tool! Easy to use and clean!

  29. Henrik Hansen

I have it and has always used it… Kind of grove up with it… And I can’t bake without it…

Nice to see an old Danish kitchen tool be so popular…

    Greatings from Denmark… 😉

  30. Don Davis

Well worth the money! Watching the video, it sure looks easy. Got mine yesterday and guess what, it is as easy as it looks! Just be sure and swish off the stuck dough and don’t let it dry. All the curves are kind of hard to clean if you let it dry on.

  31. M Ludge

I only keep good, quality tools in my kitchen. There is no more clutter than needed and this tool is absolutely strong, sturdy and does the job. It will have a permanent home here- I love it. Also, why do they call it Danish when the sticker reads made in Poland?

  32. Hoobie

Way nicer than expected – Lots of people have commented on how wonderfully this mixes up dough, so I’ll just agree with them and not try to add more to it… except that one needn’t feel limited to mixing dough with it…. And, it looks cool hanging from the pot rack!

I will add that I found it to be of a nicer quality than I expected. I purchased both sizes and both are lovely. The handles are sturdy, smooth, nicely sanded beechwood, which is a good choice due to its sturdiness and tight grain. Due to the low-ish price, I expected something a bit shabbier.

The handles arrive completely bare, with no varnish / finish at all. I advise oiling them, especially where the wire whisk part goes into the handle. I used super pure linseed oil (essentially flax seed oil) but mineral oil, walnut oil, or whatever you oil your cutting boards with would probably fine.

If you intend to keep making bread, buy this.

  33. Jim Jaarsma

This is a fantastic tool and I’m even finding new uses for it. The latest – mixing separated peanut butter back together. I dump the entire jar into a bowl and the dough whisk makes very fast work of it – far easier than the wooden spoon I used to use.

  34. Laura Biggs

Perfect! I thought I loved my wire whisks, but that was just puppy love. I ordered both sizes of the Danish Whisk (made in Poland), and we are having a blast with them. My eight year old daughter loves to help me make no-knead bread and really gets into stirring large batches of dough (both arms required for her!) with it as well as the small ones. The small whisk incorporates flour and water into our sourdough starter perfectly.

  35. Bill

great for wet doughs – Great for mixing high hydration breads. There is much less sticking to this whisk than a spoon or spatula, making for quicker, less messy, mix-up.

  36. Marina

The best whisk I’ve ever used (and I have quite a lot). I wasn’t sure, if I need one more to my collection, but decided to give it a try. O boy, what a difference! I would say you need 10 times less effort to mix your dough, than using wooden or plastic one.

  37. Jennifer in BreadLand

Nothing does what this whisk does! One of my cookbooks suggests using a danish dough whisk or a wooden spoon. For months, I just used a spoon, thinking if the author recommended it, the two were probably just about equivalent. Ha! My life changed the day this dough whisk came into our home. It has been used for breads, muffins, cakes, and more. It really gets into the centre of whatever you’re mixing and leaves the mixture almost entirely lump-free. Super-easy to clean, too! And if you forget to clean it, just flick off the dried dough and it’s ready to use again! Absolutely irreplaceable.

  38. MARIJEAN JOHNSON

AMAZING – I had never heard of this item until I stumbled ipon it on a web search for another item. I do not have a lot of strength in my arms and hands, but this is just like magic!
I had been using my bread machine to mix and knead bread, but I missed the hands on of mixing and kneading myself. This wonderful, simple tool allows me to do just that.
Cleanup is super quick, no digging dough out of mixer blades.

  39. Michael Jubinsky

Awesome Tool! We have been using a Danish Dough whisk for nearly 20 years and love it. It’s one of the few items that we recommend to the students at our baking school. the price is an exceptional value.

  40. Barbara Rolek

Incredible! If you’ve never used a Danish dough whisk, you owe yourself to try one! They do such a wonderful job for “slack” doughs that don’t benefit from the dough hook or paddle attachment of a stand mixer. It makes mixing babka, chalka, brioche and other doughs by hand a breeze! I highly recommend this product.

  41. Milo Osbun

I bought this about 2 years ago when I started baking bread again, and it is everything it is purported to be. Now, someone else has come along with an identical product at nearly twice the cost. Even at a much higher price, I consider it worth the investment.

  42. Eric Zeiner

I had one of these many years ago…maybe 30 and for some reason didn’t like it. I recently picked up another one and don’t know how I lived without it.

  43. Jonathan Kane

The danish dough hook is a simple tool that works great. I highly recommend this product for anyone who is mixing dough by hand. You’ll never use a spoon again!
